Tooth fairy

Teeth are falling out of this kid’s mouth right and left! He only has a few baby teeth left but the tooth fairy may need to get a second job!

Court lost this molar at school and the nurse gave him the cutest tooth treasure box!

Turks and Caicos

Ever since Scott and I went on our “adults only” vacation to Turks and Caicos last February, Aiden and Court have been begging us to take them there. So, we made it into a Christmas gift to all of us. Over Martin Luther King Jr weekend, we went and stayed at the super cheesy but super easy Beaches resort. There were a ton of heated pools, waterslides, hot tubs, and it was all inclusive. Aiden said that he felt certain that the resort lost money on us because of how many milkshakes and virgin strawberry daiquiris he drank! I think the grand total for Scott, Aiden, and Court over the three days we were there was 13 milkshakes and 23 daiquiris. Let’s just say, it’s been a rude awakening to come back home! It was wonderful to be able to relax with the kids, snorkel right off the beach, and take them to such a beautiful place.

One of us may be standing on our tippy toes…I’ll let you decide who that is.
The sunsets are just stunning there. Aiden and I went on a journey everyday to get a good sunset pic
Because we were in the water most of the time, we didn’t get many good family photos (or many photos at all) but at least we have one documenting that we were all there at the same time.
At the airport, I caught this moment of Court which perfectly captures him being caught between life as a little kid and a big kid.

The real Coach Williams?

A few Saturday’s ago, Scott’s assistant coach for Aiden’s basketball team was out of town. AND, the assistant to the assistant had a concussion and couldn’t coach either. Who could fill those big shoes? Well, let’s just say, we know a guy.

Do you think these two are related? Or what?!
They look like they are discussion the game but in reality,
I am pretty sure they are just discussing what they are going to have for dinner.

Museum of Illusions

For Aiden’s birthday, Uncle Mike and Aunt Cara gave Aiden passes to the new Museum of Illusions in uptown Charlotte. It was SO cool! We all loved it – so clever! Instead of saying more, I’ll let you enjoy the photos!

Davis Design and Decor

Scott Davis is a jack of all trades. He works at the bank for his real job. But for his side hustle, he and his wife Jess own a brewery – Divine Barrel Brewing, in Charlotte. And for his side hustle to his side hustle, he makes furniture. Is your mind blown yet?! I KNOW!!! We asked him to make us a table, I was a blown away by the gorgeous piece he put together. And thanks to Jess for all of your help too – you say you did nothing but I know that is not true 🙂

The tractor helped in the delivery process
Look at how gorgeous it is!
This might be one of my favorite pictures of the year! Thanks Scott!!!

Asheville

The week after Christmas, we took a few days and headed up to the mountains. We wanted to deliver some Christmas gifts and Scott wanted to help organize some of Granddaddy’s equipment. We also got spoiled with Sandy and Larry having us over for dinner – delish! And we got to see the amazing progress on Aunt Cheryl’s new house!

While the tractor sorting was going down, I took Aiden and Court to the Grove Park Inn to see the amazing gingerbread houses. SO impressive!

Those mountains just feel like home!
Court had asked John to teach him about guns one day thinking that he may want to go hunting at some point. John is just amazing all around but he notched up to hero status after this day! Not sure if Court wants to go hunting more or less after shooting all those guns, but Court loved having John’s attention all to himself. Thanks for letting us borrow John for a few hours, Hunter and Emory!!

Christmas time is here

After being in the mountains for Christmas over the past few years, it was very nice to be home for Christmas. Although, we certainly missed seeing some family. On Christmas Eve, Kurt and Kimmie came over with Kenzie and Kayson for dinner and Bub/Pop and Grandma/Grandpa Wolford spent the night with us. How lucky are we that we get both sets of our parents and our kids get both sets of their grandparents with them on Christmas morning?! It’s such a blessing and we are so grateful to have them!

I came upstairs to find Court reading to Kenzie and Kayson – so cute!
Pop read “Twas the Night Before Christmas” before Kenzie and Kayson had to go home.
One of my favorite memories of Christmas morning every year is seeing the tree all lit up with all of the gifts underneath just waiting to be demolished.
My boys
If this picture doesn’t scream Christmas morning, I don’t know what does!
Aiden and Court solving their riddle about a gift trip to Turks and Caicos!
Since the F1 race in May, Aiden has been asking for a race car video game. Santa Claus is too nice! But I must admit, it is wicked fun.

Christmas preparations

Aiden and Scott had basketball when we were supposed to pick up our Christmas tree from church so, I stepped up to the plate. Court and I drove the GOAT to church and brought that beauty home. Court was terrified that I was not going to be able to manage the GOAT’s manual transmission and kept telling me how close the cars were behind us. He kept looking behind us nervously. He didn’t trust me one bit! Luckily, we made it home safely.
We have done gingerbread houses for years. The kids like to buy the kits from the stores and do it the “easy” way. But after this year, I believe they may rethink that decision. The glue/icing was terrible this year and Court’s would’t even stay together with superglue!
We had slightly more success with Aiden’s house. But then, Juno jumped up onto the table and ate off all the candies! She even ate the chocolate! They say chocolate is poisonous to dogs but Juno is tough as nails and pulled through without even a belly ache.
We were much more successful with Christmas cookies.
…Even if some of us couldn’t wait for the icing to set.
A few stink bugs have gotten in our house this winter. The Luke family from Atlanta sent the boys a salt gun to shoot flies in the summer. Why wait until summer?! Seize the day! Winston encouraged the kids to take control of the stink bug situation.
The TarHeels played in Charlotte before Christmas and we were able to go! So fun! We saw old friends that we haven’t seen in 20 years. And Pop introduced Aiden and Court to Eric Church at half time.
The Wolford and the Watsons all came over to celebrate Christmas on the 23rd. Let the Christmas-ing begin!
