Blast from the past!

Aiden and Court got to hang out with some friends from preschool this past weekend. Wow, have they grown!

Al Browne

Aiden got pulled up to the “major leagues” in little league which is the most competitive league. It has been super fun to watch him play but their team has not had a good season at all. We lost our first 12 games…but finally won last weekend. Way to go Al Browne (that’s the name of Aiden’s team which is an old service station in Charlotte that started sponsoring the team back in the 60s – super cool!) Thanks to Grandpa for all of these great photos!!

The coaches brought out the “throw-back” uniforms to help build some energy just before their big win!

The last one is our favorite obviously!

Flag football

Both boys have loved playing organized flag football this year for the first time. It’s perfect for Scott and me as well because it’s a one hour practice followed by a one hour game, only on Sundays. That means two hours where Scott and I just relax in the sidelines in some seriously beautiful Spring weather and watch our kids sweat it out. Grandpa Wolford has been to every gave and has captured some fantastic pictures!

Las Vegas

Sadly, our last leg of the journey meant that we had to say goodbye to the Bayer family to fly out of Vegas. Can I just tell you what a wonderful family they are? Four amazing people for all different reasons. In many ways, Kelley and I are living parallel lives on opposite coasts and I just wish I could convince her to move to Charlotte. But I digress, we drove to Vegas next. I was convinced that Vegas would be the kids’ favorite part of our trip with all of the lights and sounds and everything that Vegas is. This would have infuriated me since we had just come from such beautiful natural places but thankfully, Iwas totally wrong! They hated Vegas. THIS may have been my proudest moment as a mom yet. They both said they would never go back. Famous last words, I’m sure but I’ll embrace them for now. We stayed one night at the Bellagio before flying out the next morning. Aiden and Court loved the fancy cars, the Bellagio fountains outside our room, but hated the cigarette and marijuana smoke everywhere, the overcrowded pool and sidewalk, the loud noises, and all the people everywhere. I don’t think Vegas got the message about having a global pandemic.

Favorite quote about Vegas from Court: “Vegas is just way too much of everything” as said with a turned up nose. My response: “You never have to come back here! When all of your friends fly to Vegas for your own bachelor party, you can just come home to be with your mama.”

This is our favorite Vegas – secluded in our hotel room with the fountains all to ourselves!

Zion National Park

Our second National Park of Spring break was Zion National Park in Utah. This place is just breathtaking. The views, the shear rock faces in front of us, the narrow canyons…that’s why they call the canyon where the river runs through “the narrows.” It was the highlight of our trip. The boys both said it was their favorite thing we did.
we stayed in Springdale which is the cutest little town you’ve ever seen and the LaQuinta did not disappoint – bunk beds, a king bed, a coffee maker and a fridge, a pool and hot tub – perfection! Also, Zion Guru where we rented our gear for the narrows was on site as well. Thanks for all that great planning Kelley Bayer!!

There are only park vehicles allowed on the roads a so you can just hike right there. Look at those cliffs!
Ready for the narrows
That’s why we needed the suits!
Little Kaitlyn needed a group effort to keep her on her feet!
