Look who was recognized as an “Eagle with character” for the month of January? Aiden! The trait was kindness. Maybe we can get a little more kindness with his brother 😉

We had 3 inches of snow in Charlotte in mid-January. The boys couldn’t have been more excited for a snow day (3 actually)!
Bubba even got snow at the beach!
Anyone who has been to the Charleston beach house, will recognize this view…without the snow of course. Thanks for the pix Bubba!
Meanwhile in Charlotte…
“Snowy’ the Snowman. Super creative name.
Our dear neighbor, Ms. Pat, came to play too.
First “big” snow for our newish house.
Sledding down Ms. Pat’s hill.
The next weekend, we went to Boone for snow tubing. Grandpa wins the award for bravest snow tuber! He jumped right in there and was better than all of us!
Snaggletooth!
We were able to go tandem – so fun!
Here are some great photos (the good ones are compliments of Grandpa Wolford of course) of our boys in basketball this year. Scott coached Aiden’s U8 team and Court’s U6 teams this year. They have both had really great seasons and Aiden’s team is heading to the tournament this year! U6 doesn’t have a tourney or else I am sure Court’s team would have been tough competition. Aiden’s team only lost once all season. Not sure about Court’s team since they don’t officially keep score, but the kids had a lot of fun and I have been very entertained all season. Court’s favorite part? The post-game snacks of course!
Court had to guard this really tall boy one game. His dad is over 7 feet tall. But Court was not intimidated, just look at his face! Luckily his mohawk gives him a few extra inches!
He made his free throw!
Aiden made his free throw too!
Court and this little girl were hilarious. They kept boxing each other out whether or not their team had the ball.
Coach “Sausage” (Scott’s coach name since it’s easier for the kids to remember) and Aiden on the sidelines.
Court came to me and said, “Mama, I can’t stand it anymore. I need this wiggly tooth out of my mouth.” I asked him how he wanted to get it out and he said by tying a string to a doorknob. He wanted me to help tie the string and for me to kick the door. Okay, buddy, here we go.
Preparing for the big event.
Then we took Grandpa lunch to celebrate his birthday! What a great day!
Nothing celebrates a man’s birthday quite like a game of hungry hungry hippos.
Aiden’s birthday celebrations spanned a good week. Well played, Aiden! Charlie and Chatham were the first to give him a gift at our New Years celebration with cake to boot!
Then we celebrated with a family lunch on his actual birthday with homemade carrot cake as well as black eyed peas and collard greens for New Year’s Day.
Collard greens were met with some resistance
Then a big family dinner at hibachi – Aiden’s favorite!
Look at all that family! This kid is super lucky!
The following weekend, he had 3 friends from school come for a sleepover as his “kid party.” Cheapest birthday party ever – score for Mom and Dad!
Liam (left), Sawyer (blonde), and Bryson (green shirt) are some of Aiden’s favorite friends these days. The played in the gym for hours!
Glow in the dark party in the gym
Welcome to 8 Aiden! We love you so much for the person you are and the incredible things you surprise us with. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for this world during this year!
Charlie and Chatham invited us to celebrate New Year’s Eve with them this year. Our kids get along so well and Charlie and Chatham spoil us with great food as well as an early celebration for the kids so we’re still home for kids bedtime! I hope this is a tradition that lasts for many many years.
Court loved playing with all of William’s new Christmas toys
This piano got a lot of use!
Aiden was so excited to take a few photos of us. But…they were a little fuzzy.

Can you believe these two boys have kids of their own? I am talking about Scott and Charlie here! Happy New Year!
