According to Ben…

Just the other day, our good friend, Jocelyn, emailed us a funny story.  She said she was looking at our blog when her son, Ben, came to look as well.  During our visit with them this Spring, Ben nicknamed Aiden “The Blue Tornado” because, well, he’s a bit of a live wire.  Apparently, Aiden’s behavior made a big impression on Ben.  Jocelyn said, “Ben asked me what I was looking at, and I told him that Scott, Katie and Aiden had a new baby. No joke he said, ‘I see the Blue Tornado. He likes to knock down my blocks. Will the new baby like to knock down my blocks too?'”
Yes, Ben. There is no doubt in my mind, that Court, too, will knock down your blocks.  So sorry for the bad news, my little friend.  We love ya, Ben!

Truly, a blue tornado!

Bye bye Bright Horizons

This week is Aiden’s second week at his new baby camp.  His last day at Bright Horizons was the same day that we brought Court home from the hospital (terrible timing – poor Aiden had so much change going on all at the same time!).  I made some cupcakes for Aiden’s teachers and classmates and we had a little goodbye party to say “thank you” for all the hard work that they have done teaching, encouraging, playing with, and caring for Aiden.  We will miss them all especially his favorite teacher, Ms. Sarah, who is an amazingly patient, creative, and energetic person.  But for multiple reasons, we switched Aiden to First Presbyterian Child Development Center and we can only hope that Aiden will thrive there like he did at Bright Horizons.  And so far so good.  On his first day, Scott called me and told me that Aiden ran immediately to the playground and he wouldn’t even turn around to say goodbye to his Big One.  All the teachers keep telling me how well-adjusted Aiden is and how he never seems to meet a stranger. That’s our junior.

Saying goodbye to Ms. Jenn (one of Aiden's first teachers)

We noticed that day that Aiden was acting a little strange and was hot as fire when we went to pick him up.  When we got home, his temperature was 101.5.  I guess it was an overwhelming goodbye!  This was the scene later that evening as he made a little magic on the potty.

Have you ever seen anything more pitiful?!

“Baby Dick”

Our first few days at home have been very good overall.  Now, if you phone me, you may still hear me and two children crying and Bruno barking all simultaneously.  But those moments have been very few and far between!  I even put two kids to bed last night by myself without a breakdown. Granted, it took me three hours to feed them both, bathe Aiden, get Aiden to use the potty, and rock Court to sleep (and then clean up after Bruno peed on the carpet because I apparently missed his cues to go outside), but I still did it.  A big accomplishment to me in my mommy book.

As for the title of this blog entry, when you point to Court and ask Aiden “Who is this?” he replies, “Baby.”  If you then ask him what the baby’s name is, he replies “Baby Dick” or “Baby Duck.”  Scott and I are pretty sure he is actually trying to say “Baby Court” but somehow it gets lost in translation.  You can’t make up comedy like that.

Court is now one week one and is on track to have gained back his birth weight by day nine.  So obviously he likes to eat…and sleep.  Everything was great at his doctor’s appointment on Monday and so far, they say is a healthy little boy.  10 fingers, 10 toes, and a little extra fat around the edges – he’s perfect!

I know it's hard to see but these monitors display two children under two napping simultaneously. Score one for the mommy!!

Bruno and Court's first meeting after coming home from the hospital. I think Bruno is having the hardest time adjusting to the new baby. He is super protective (shocker) of me and the baby.

The most unique baby gift we have ever gotten. Two little scrapbooks (the one on the left for Court - filled with the most adorable socks! and the one on the right for Aiden - his very own pop-up book!) made by Ms. Margey Frederick. Thanks so much - they are amazing and the boys love them!

Court's first bath while big brother looks on from the potty. It's like a three-ring circus in there at night!

All clean and ready for some milk!

Aiden shows Court how the whole bath thing is done.
